San Michele di Mariuccia d'Angiò

About us

The first production of Mariuccia d’Angiò is linked to a technique halfway between painting and engraving: batik on silk. In the works of this period dominates the strength of the line, which limits compact and thick colors, from which emerges a reality made with few but powerful details. The pictorial base fabric becomes almost three-dimensional material, turning into bodies, still lifes, landscapes. After the experience of some exhibitions, he abandons the artist's active life to devote himself to teaching, limiting his production to episodic "realizations for personal use". Finally, in recent years, he has resumed his activity in a certain sense from the point where he had left it: the search for a sign in color, even through the constructive value of the line. The design becomes the new line of research, first with the different nuances in his multiple designs, where he replaces silk with paper and the "absolute" colors of batik with the lightness and nuances of sanguines and clays, and currently with the rediscovery of the absence of color, in a path that brings it closer to illustration.

And precisely by following this thread of illustration, he proposes his original and unmistakable style in publishing. He has published agendas to color, coloring book, books for children and illustrated the tarot cards with new and creative subjects.
